How Attractive Are AI-Generated Palettes?

Hello, this is MyShopper! These days, AI is becoming part of our everyday lives—both at work and at home. How about you? In which areas do you find yourself using AI the most? Today, I’d like to share a story that feels especially relevant in this digital age: the world of AI-generated color palettes.

A New Way to Read Color Trends

In fashion, beauty, and design, a fresh approach to understanding color trends has arrived—AI-powered palettes. By simply uploading a photo or typing in a keyword into tools like MidJourney or Adobe Firefly, you can see a curated palette appear in seconds. It feels like having a digital artist mixing colors for you right on the screen.

These palettes are more than just a collection of hues. They’re built on vast datasets and algorithms that reflect current trends, making them both practical and inspiring.

There are two main ways these palettes are generated:

Extracting Colors from Images

Upload a photo and the system picks out the dominant colors—like sky blue, forest green, or stone gray from a landscape picture.

Algorithm-Based Combinations

Some tools generate entirely new palettes using color theory structures (complementary, triadic, tetradic) or even random algorithms. Each click of a button can reveal a totally new combination, sometimes unexpected, sometimes perfectly inspiring.

What’s interesting is that seasonal trends naturally surface. For instance, navy, burgundy, and ash gray often appear in fall/winter palettes, while pastels and vivid tones dominate spring/summer. This happens because AI reflects recurring patterns across massive amounts of visual data. Still, not every palette feels “safe”, occasionally, surprising experimental mixes emerge that spark fresh ideas.
